A home is more than kitchens and bathrooms.

When it comes to renovations, kitchens and bathroom get all the glory.

But you probably spend more time in your bedroom than you do in your kitchen and bathroom put together. And what about the lounge? Dining? Office? Even a freshly renovated laundry can make the dullest of chores, a more meaningful experience.

Laundry

When it comes to renovating a house, the laundry is often overlooked in favour of revamping the kitchen or bathroom.

However, what was once an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ kind of space has quickly become a feature point of modern homes, with architects and interior designers teaming up to create beautiful, functional rooms that people enjoy being in.

Bedrooms

We’ve all heard the statistic that you spend a third of your life asleep. Even if you don’t get a full 8 hours every night, shouldn’t your bedroom help you relax?

Or maybe that old wardrobe could become a walk in?

Or a dressing room!

Or what about a window seat?

Bedrooms may be simple, but they don't have to be boring.

Home Office

So everybody's working from home nowadays and quite frankly, they're loving it.

But you can't work at the kitchen bench or dining table forever.

You'd be surprised how many nooks and crannies your home has and how many might just be the perfect candidate for a quick transformation into a whole new space.

Living Areas

You spend a lot of time in your living areas and so do guests.

In years past, living rooms traditionally were kept tight and compact to conserve energy. But with the open floor plan movement of the mid 20th century, coupled with today's need for more space, home buyers expect living rooms that are larger than ever.

So if you have a room adjoining the living room that you don't mind sacrificing, you can remove an interior non-load-bearing wall and take over that space.

Or you could go for the broken plan home, which provides small niches of privacy while still maintaining an overall sense of openness. You can define these sub-spaces with half-walls, glass walls, pillars and columns, or with non-permanent pieces such as bookcases.
